September is a good month. Why? Because it’s Read A New Book Month.
If you’re like me, you’ll find yourself re-reading old favourites as a cosy comfort blanket when you’re feeling a bit down. The recent state of the world – along with recent personal issues – left me feeling unable to concentrate and avoiding the unknown.
Reading familiar stories is great, but nothing beats the joy of discovering a new author – especially if they have a series for you to follow!
But this month I’m going to focus on getting out of my comfort zone and pick up some books that are new to me. On my list are:
- Dracul by Dacre Stoker and JD Barker
- How To Be A Woman by Caitlin Moran
- The Political Brain by Drew Westen
- The Moscow Sleepers by Stella Rimington
- Murder in Mesopotamia by Agatha Christie.
It’s unlikely that I’ll manage to read all of them, but with a week’s holiday coming up and two three-hour train journeys, I’m going to be giving it a good crack. Caitlin Moran’s book is for my book club so I have to read it!
What will you be picking up that’s new to you?
